The task of adjusting the overall master plan of Da Lat city and its vicinity to 2045 (replacing the 2014 plan) has just been approved by the Prime Minister. In the future, this City of Thousand Flowers will include 6 satellite towns, taking the existing city as the administrative center and developing high-class tourism.

The scope of this adjusted study is TP. Da Lat and the districts of Lac Duong, Don Duong, Duc Trong and part of Lam Ha district with a total natural land area of more than 335,000 ha. These are localities located next to Da Lat, with a lot of land and green areas.
Da Lat and the surrounding area will be developed according to the model of a chain of urban areas linked by belt and radial routes; connecting eco-tourism areas, forest landscape areas, and agriculture; Sustainable Development; preserve and promote the specificity of nature, culture – history.
In the future, the tourist capital of Lam Dong province will consist of 6 satellite towns, taking the existing city as the center, the satellite cities will perform different functions and connect together. Da Lat city (area of 5,900 ha) assumes the function of administrative center, high-class resort tourism, preserving architectural heritages.
Duc Trong and Lam Ha districts are oriented to become centers of commerce, entertainment, mixed tourism and high-tech agricultural development. According to calculations, the population size of Da Lat by 2035 is more than 1.1 million people; by 2045 about 2 million people.
In this adjustment, the authorities noted the relationship between Da Lat and the surrounding area with Bao Loc city; between Lien Khuong airport, Phan Rang – Da Lat railway line and the system of highways and national highways to support the sustainable development of the city.
Local authorities are required to preserve and enhance the spatial identity of the landscape architecture of Da Lat and its vicinity, especially the forest system, landscape of rivers, streams, ponds and lakes, architectural heritage; strengthen the public green land fund, improve the existing area’s environment.
Da Lat is a city in Lam Dong province, formed 130 years ago when doctor Alexandre Yersin set foot on Lam Vien plateau. The city has a natural area of more than 394 km2, a population of more than 237,000 people (in 2022). With an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level, mild and cool climate all year round, unique architecture, Da Lat attracts many tourists.
