President of Viet Nam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA) Tran Ngoc Chinh and members of VUPDA visited Hong Kong from March 27 to March 31, 2024 at the invitation of President of Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) Amy Cheung.

During the working meeting between VUPDA and HKIP on March 28 afternoon, the two sides introduced their professional capabilities, their 2024 action plans and proposed cooperation plans in the near future.

Specifically, the two sides discussed the opportunities for cooperation in the period 2024 – 2025, and agreed to promote information exchange, share professional experience between planning experts, professors and students of universities; co-organizing the Young Planners Award…
The two sides also agree to co-organize international conferences and seminars on interested issues in urban planning and urban development.
During the meeting, VUPDA experts presented the project “Healthy and active city; case studies from city to community intervention”. The two sides also listened to reports on the results of exchange students and research cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city Architecture University and Hong Kong universities….
Right after the meeting, VUPDA’ delegates attended the international conference organized by HKIP in collaboration with the City Planning Institute of Japan and the Singapore Institute of Planners with the theme “Planning for ageing communities”. This is one of the contents receiving special attention from managers and planners in the near future of Vietnamese society.
On this occasion, President of VUPDA Tran Ngoc Chinh respectfully invited President HKIP Amy Cheung and her members to visit Viet Nam in the convenient time. President of HKIP accepted the invitation and also invited the President of VUPDA and its members to visit Hong Kong again and attend the 45th anniversary in spring 2025.
During the time in Hong Kong, the VUPDA delegation visited the City Gallery. The delegation was introduced the process of urban planning and development of Hong Kong in the past, from its establishment, expansion, and reclamation to the new program for green, sustainable and resilient city, smart city …aiming to be the one of the most livable and dynamic cities in the world.
