On September 7, 2023, at Hanoi Architectural University, Memorandum of Understanding on “Establishment of a cooperation network” was signed between the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA), Hanoi Architectural University (HAU), Korean Regional Development Association (KRDA) and Korea Local Finance Association (LOFA).

After the signing ceremony, an international conference with the theme “Digital transformation in construction, management and regional development” was held with the participation of managers, professors, associate professors, PhDs… of Viet Nam and Korea.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Kim Hyeon Ho, President of KRDA briefly introduced the functions and main tasks of the Association and proposed to cooperate with Viet Nam in joint research, give opinions and comments on policies related to the planning and sustainable urban development, through information exchange and regional research, based on the utilization of advanced tools and methods such as digital transformation, building smart city pilot…

Also at the opening ceremony, President of VUPDA Tran Ngoc Chinh emphasized that “National digital transformation is considered one of the key tasks in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country. Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2022 of the Politburo on planning, construction, management and sustainable urban development of Viet Nam to 2030, vision to 2045 also emphasized the task of “accelerating digital transformation in urban management, building e-government towards digital government, closely linked with smart urban development is one of the key tasks of the sustainable urban development”.
The international conference and the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the parties are considered milestones, aiming to recognize their coordination in the past and further strengthen cooperation in the coming time through the establishment of cooperation network to best exploit the intellectual resources from the experts, scientists and managers in urban planning and development of Viet Nam and Korea”./.
