VUPDA signs extension of Memorandum of Understanding with HKIP

On 18 December 2025 in Ha Noi, the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA) held the ceremony for the signing of the extension of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between VUPDA and HKIP – The Hong Kong Institute of Planners. The online signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh, President of VUPDA; Ms. Theresa W. S. Yeung, President of HKIP; and members of both organizations.

The MOU between VUPDA and HKIP was originally signed on 8 June 2023 with the aim of strengthening cooperation through exchange visits, invitations to international conferences and seminars, and the sharing of information among experts in urban planning and development.

Following the signing of the MOU, both parties actively implemented a wide range of practical and effective cooperative activities, including delegation exchanges and participation in major events organized by each side, such as the “25th Anniversary Celebration of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association”, the “International Conference on Planning 2025,” as well as various domestic and international conferences and workshops organized or co-organized by the two organizations.

The achievements attained over the past three years have demonstrated the effectiveness, practicality, and sustainability of the MOU, while also providing a solid foundation for both associations to extend and further expand the scope of cooperation in the comming years.

At the signing ceremony, Ms. Theresa W. S. Yeung, President of HKIP, affirmed:
“The extension of our agreement reflects our belief that collaboration is essential to addressing the challenges we both face. By connecting through joint programmes, professional exchange, open dialogues, events and trainings, planners are able to gain deeper market insights. These interactions support meaningful knowledge transfer, encourage innovation and strengthen professional networks across borders.”

Both parties expressed confidence that, with a spirit of equality, openness, and mutual development, the relationship between the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association and the Hong Kong Institute of Planners will continue to serve as a solid foundation for collaborative activities and knowledge exchange. This cooperation will enable the urban planning community to work together in developing optimal solutions and designing innovative urban spaces, making meaningful contributions to sustainable urban development for each party and for the region as a whole.
